Invitation: Standing Together – Youth & Community Solidarity Gathering
Following recent conversations across our communities and in recent network meetings, we are inviting youth organisations, youth workers and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations from across the Lancaster District to come together in solidarity to discuss the political and social issues we face.
This gathering is for anyone who wants to stand against all forms of division, in a safe space, recognising the many overlapping ways that young people, youth and community workers and communities experience discrimination and exclusion.
We know that our communities are stronger when we stand together. Many of you have already shown leadership, compassion, and courage, and this is another opportunity to connect, share experiences, and decide how we move forward as a district.
The purpose of this gathering is to:
- Create a safe, inclusive space for connection and solidarity
- Listen to and acknowledge the experiences of those in our youth and community sector
- Share and strengthen the great work already happening locally, regionally, and nationally
- Explore ways to tackle misinformation and negative influence in informal and social media environments
- Identify practical, tangible actions that participants can take back into their own settings
Key details:
- Thursday 23rd October 2025
- 9.30-11.30
- Morecambe Town Hall
Register to attend here (via Trybooking)
We hope you can join us and be part of this important conversation. Your voice and presence will help us build stronger, fairer, and more connected communities across the Lancaster District.

Jenny Runs the Lancaster Half for The Bay Foundation
Our amazing Community Health Officer Jenny Reddell is lacing up her running shoes to take on the Lancaster Half Marathon on Sunday 2 November, raising vital funds for The Bay Foundation. After years as a committed cyclist, Jenny has swapped pedals for pavement, inspired by her sister Kath, who is fresh from running her second full marathon in Amsterdam.
By supporting Jenny, donors will be helping The Bay Foundation – powered by Lancaster District CVS – to back grassroots charities, community groups and CICs across the district. The Foundation ensures that local giving goes further, funding essential projects that change lives and filling the gaps that other funders often miss. Every pound raised will go directly towards strengthening local communities and ensuring that no one is left behind.
Jenny’s run is more than a personal challenge – it’s about fuelling the work of countless organisations who make our district stronger, kinder, and more connected.

Reflecting on REACH Morecambe Youth Festival 2025
What an extraordinary day it was at the REACH Morecambe Youth Festival – a celebration of energy, creativity, and youth voice in action. Over 100 young people from across Lancaster District came together to share their visions for a brighter future, exploring what it means to belong, to connect, and to thrive. Through workshops, performances, and honest conversations, they reminded us that change starts with relationships, community, and the courage to dream big.
With heartfelt thanks to our Young People Advisory Group, hosts Niyah and Daz, Morecambe FC Community Foundation, and the many partners, volunteers, and supporters who made the day possible, this festival showed the true power of collaboration. Most of all, it showed the power of young people leading the way – inspiring us all to build bridges, nurture opportunity, and create a district to be proud of.
The day was also the launch of RISE – Lancaster District Young People’s Foundation. This marks a new chapter for the district: a dedicated platform to champion youth voice, strengthen opportunities, and bring young people, communities, and organisations together to shape the future they want to see. Stay connected to find out more.

Future of Social Prescribing Survey
The National Academy for Social Prescribing has launched a survey about the future of social prescribing in England, to help inform their new strategy, set to be released from 2026 onwards.
Recent research highlights that young people, men, and ethnic minorities are less likely to access social prescribing through medical routes. To truly unlock its potential, NASP want to strengthen community-led access—through self-referral, trusted local connectors, and culturally relevant services.
Community organisations are already doing incredible work – this is about ensuring they’re supported, visible, and central to the future of social prescribing.
