Summer Sorted: Activities for Young People Across Lancaster

Young people everywhere have recently celebrated the end of another school year and the beginning of a glorious six weeks or so of summer holidays, and Lancaster’s voluntary sector is positively bursting with fun sessions and activities for young people over the coming weeks!

Indigo Arts and Crafts are thrilled to have bookings open for their award-winning Summer Holiday Club, offering children aged 4–13 a chance to unleash their creativity and build confidence in a safe, nurturing environment. From painting and printing to forest skills, nature crafts and inspiring guest workshops, every day is packed with fun, imagination and hands-on learning.

ConnectPlayLearn offers fun family activity days in Morecambe. Open to all families with Special Needs, Neurodivergence, Disability or additional needs, the sessions are loosely themed and cater for all ages and abilities. Each session includes sensory and exploratory play, crafts, art, snack and stories.

Join The Dukes for a week of creativity, performance, collaboration and discovery.  This year, The Dukes have summer schools for 5 to 11 year-olds on 11 – 15 August, and for 12 to 18 year-olds on 4 – 8 August.

Prime Time invites young people to a magical evening in the park with a Wizard of Oz social on Tuesday 29 July. Starting with a relaxed picnic at the foot of Ashton Memorial from 5:30pm, the evening rolls into a live outdoor performance at 7:15pm.
Tickets are just £15, including food (vegetarian and gluten-free options available), thanks to a heavily subsidised rate for the Prime Time and Young Company cohorts. Parents are welcome, though spaces are limited.

Volunteer It Yourself (VIY) is inviting young people aged 16+ in Lancaster to join its latest community project at Marsh Estate Community Centre, where they’ll transform unused land into a vibrant community garden. Through hands-on, mentor-supported experience, participants can gain Entry Level 3 City & Guilds qualifications in Joinery and Health & Safety – all in just three days.

Lancaster & Morecambe College Positive Prospects is a UKSPF funded summer holiday programme for 14-18 year olds which will be held on 29-31 July, 5-7 August, and 19-21 August. Activities include first aid, catering, stage make-up, construction, and talks from a range of external speakers such as DWP and the Kings Trust.

You can get full details about all of these activities and more by contacting Lancaster District CVS on 01524 555900 or by emailing [email protected].
