Celebrating Every Corner of Community Life

Each year we encourage local voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise sector organisations to contribute to the State of the Sector Survey, which is an attempt to audit and celebrate all the positive contributions made by not-for-private profit groups and organisations across Lancashire and Cumbria.

This includes community groups, arts and culture groups, social clubs, sports clubs, charities, faith organisations, social enterprises, co-operatives, community benefit societies, working men’s clubs, housing associations, trade unions, and lots more.

Something that has become clear over the years is that there are lots of organisations, groups, and projects that fit into our sector but which don’t consider themselves as such. Often these types of groups just think of themselves as coming together to do something, perhaps saying “oh, we’re just a social group”, and yet they require organisation, administration, dedicated people to make things happen, maybe even funds to ensure that they can achieve what they’ve set out to achieve.

This year we want to find those groups that don’t necessarily go along to network meetings or work in partnership with other local organisation, those groups which might have never made a funding application or run a training session, but nevertheless offer something really valuable to their community. It might be a friends group, a weekly get together for a cuppa and a chat, a few people meeting up to take part in a hobby or other fun activity. Your voice matters and we want to know about you.

If you are involved in a leadership role, please complete the survey. Alternatively, if you know somebody running a group or any of these types of organisations, especially very small ones, please pass the survey on and ask them to complete it also. You can access it by visiting this link. Alternatively you can contact Lancaster District CVS and we can forward a link to whoever would like to complete it. You only have until 15th August to complete it.

We would love as many responses as possible to get the best possible picture of the great work that groups and organisations are doing and how you are feeling at the moment, and as a thank you for completing the survey, your group will be entered into a £500 prize draw. Complete your contact details at the end of the survey so that your group can be contacted if successful with the prize draw.
