Adullam: Offering Help, Hope & Community since 2018

Since 2018 Adullam has offered help, hope, and community to people in and around Lancaster. Operating from premises at Hope Church, Queen Street, Adullam offers a wide variety of life-skills and wellbeing opportunities. From money management to job preparation, their groups and courses help participants to thrive and flourish. There is no charge for any of their offers, and if you are interested in taking part, you can do so for as long as you wish.

This October, in collaboration with Big Bike Revival and Ribble Valley Adventures, Adullam is running a cycling group every Saturday between 11.00am and 3pm (except Saturday 19th). The aim is to help adults begin or return to cycling through a programme of activities.

Between 11.00am and 1pm you can learn to ride, or you can refresh your cycling skills. You can even bring a bike along and get it fixed, or learn useful maintenance skills.

Between 1pm and 3pm the group will set off on a gentle and inclusive guided ride. There is not even a need to have a bike, as riding equipment can all be provided!

According to Cycling UK, in a study of almost 265,000 people, cycling to work was shown to have a link with a 45% lower risk of cancer, and a 46% lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Not only is cycling good for you, it’s also good for the environment.

Adullam doesn’t just run a cycling group. Other opportunities to get involved include:

  • ‘Ladies coffee time’ – Tuesdays at 10.00am. Coffee and community. Regular trips and excursions.
  • ‘Cooking on a budget’ – Tuesday at 1.30pm. Make healthy, delicious, and inexpensive meals. Equipment and ingredients are all provided.
  • ‘Walk With a Doc’ – Tuesday at 2pm. A gentle fitness walk with a retired GP. Set off from the Quay side of the Millenium bridge.
  • ‘Celebrate Recovery’ – Tuesday at 7.30pm. A twelve-step programme based on Christian principles, for anybody with hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
  • ‘Living Life to the Full’ – Wednesday at 2pm. A course for those wanting to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing, based on CBT principles.
  • ‘Men’s breakfast’ – Thursday at 9.30am. A hearty breakfast and a supportive community.
