CancerCare’s Christmas Events
Big Santa Dash
Sunday 29 November 2026, 12.00pm to 4.00pm
The Santa Dash is one of CancerCare’s flagship fundraising events and an important opportunity to raise both funds and awareness within the local community. It’s always a fun and energetic event that showcases the amazing work that CancerCare’s volunteers do.
They are looking for volunteers to assist with marshalling, stewarding, and collections, to help keep participants safe while supporting fundraising efforts. Full training and PPE will be provided, and CancerCare’s Fundraising Team will work closely with all volunteers to ensure the day runs smoothly and everyone has a positive experience.
Cosy Christmas Grotto
Saturday 12 December 2026, 9.00am to 4.30pm
Sunday 13 December 2026, 8.30am to 4.00pm
We’re also seeking additional volunteers to help at our family Christmas event. As we will be welcoming children and young families, volunteers will need to have an enhanced DBS/CRB clearance.
Families will be guided through our magical garden to Santa’s Grotto, where they’ll meet Santa (definitely not me!) and his elves (possibly me!). They’ll also enjoy festive treats and luxury hot chocolate as part of the experience.
We’ll need approximately six additional volunteers on each day to help support staff and existing volunteers in delivering what promises to be a very special weekend. If you have a group of volunteers similar to those who kindly supported us at the theatre event, I’d be extremely grateful for any assistance you can offer. The young people you helped us recruit previously were fantastic, and they made a real difference on the day.
If you are interested in either of these opportunities you can contact CancerCare’s volunteer coordinator, Rick Woodstock, by email at [email protected] or by calling 01524 381820. Alternatively you can let our volunteer coordinator know by emailing [email protected] and Mark will get Rick to get in touch with you.
