Lancaster and District Choral Society – 190th Anniversary and Call for Volunteer Publicity Officer
Lancaster and District Choral Society (LDCS) must be doing something right, celebrating 190 years this year of entertaining the people of Lancaster and beyond with everything from Handel’s Messiah to Procol Harum’s Whiter Shade of Pale, from classics of musical theatre to songs from the football terraces, classical, hymnal, rock opera – they can do it all!
Lead by musical director John Perrin, LDCS usually has around 60 members, from novices to very experienced singers, and they stage three major concerts per year. They have their upcoming Autumn Concert on Saturday 21st November at 7.30pm, which will be held at the stunning Lancaster Priory. And their Spring Concert is scheduled for Saturday 20th March 2027 at 7.30pm and that will take place at Lancaster University’s Grand Hall. Tickets for both events will be available closer to each date and will be linked to from their website.
Passion projects such as this – activities, groups, clubs, things that only happen because of the love and dedication shown by a group of people doing it because, really, it is its own reward – really do rely on new people getting involved, being passionate, fizzing with enthusiasm and ideas, and the fact that LDCS has been thriving for so long really is testament to the inspirational effect of music, on souls, on lives, on community.
Right now LDCS would really like to find an enthusiastic, capable person to support them in the next stage of their history, upping their marketing and promotions game and really pushing the group into greater public consciousness, bringing in new singers and members, and helping them to sell more tickets to their upcoming events.
