Summer Volunteering

Summertime, when the (volunteering) is easy! Well, maybe not easy, but there is certainly more opportunity during the summer months, usually, as organisations across the district ramp up their offers for children and families. With the summer holidays fast approaching, and the weather looking (at least for now) like it’s going to be pretty good, you can expect to see plenty of opportunities to support local events and activities, whether it’s stewarding or helping with workshops or sports activity.

Summer volunteering can be ideal for people who might be looking for something short-term. Perhaps you’re a student home for a few weeks, perhaps you’ve just finished college and have a few weeks before either going to university or starting a job. Maybe you’re a parent looking for a way to help out with your kids’ activities. Whatever your reasons, or your availability, there’s a good chance that there will be something for you to get stuck into during the summer period.

A good way to stay informed about new opportunities is to register on our website. But not every organisation uses the website (we’re working on that!), so you should also keep an eye on our Facebook page.

Outside of CVS, you might approach your local community centre, church hall, or other community venues that you are aware of – community centres and similar will usually offer a range of activities during the summer holidays and will always welcome offers of help.

Not sure what organisations are where? We’ve got you covered with the Digital Directory! See what’s happening near you.
