Channel your spring-time motivation into volunteering

Can you believe it’s almost spring? Hopefully, as the days get longer and the weather gets better, we’ll all start to feel a bit happier and more motivated, and this week I want to give you some ideas on how to channel that motivation.

There could still be time for you to help out with Morecambe’s Baylight Festival. They would love your help on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd with everything from workshop assistants to event guide distribution. Check out their website at baylightmorecambe.co.uk/volunteers for more details.

If you are interested in volunteering you might be looking for something a bit longer term. We have you covered! Here are some current roles, all of which can be applied for on our Volunteer Centre website at volunteering.lancastercvs.org.uk.

Breast Cancer Now’s Moving Forward project needs volunteers to support people living with and beyond breast cancer who will attend the Moving Forward course. You will welcome participants on arrival, circulate in small groups to support the conversations, and actively participate in those discussions where appropriate.

Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust needs perinatal support volunteers to support women and their families experiencing mental health challenges in the weeks before and after birth.

Friends of Lancaster Cemetery are looking for a fundraiser to help raise money for bulbs, tools, and various other projects. The group directly assists the city council by taking care of the cemetery.

Are you good with IT? Websites? Social media? Then Bay Veterans would appreciate your help. They work to support area veterans and need someone to look after their computers, laptops, and various associated equipment and processes.

Beyond Radio are in need of a fundraiser and grant finder to help them raise money to pursue their ambitions. As a community radio station their advertisement income is capped by Ofcom and they need to raise funding from other sources. Maybe you can help them.

The 3R charity shop in Carnforth needs volunteer van drivers to help out one morning or afternoon per week with deliveries and collections so if you can drive a van and have the time they’d love to hear from you.

All of this is a fraction of what’s needed across the district and you can find more on our website, but to get a real sense of the opportunities out there you should speak with our volunteer centre manager. You can email him at [email protected].
