Menopause in the Workplace-Guidance
The Equality and Human Rights Commission has released comprehensive guidance, endorsed by various organisations, which is deemed more reasonable and practical than the recent Avanti West Coast initiative.

The initiative, involving “gift bags” for menopausal women, garnered significant publicity earlier this week. While Avanti stated the bags were designed by a support group of menopausal women and included practical items, such as a fan and chocolate, they faced criticism on social media and were labeled as demeaning and insulting gimmicks by equality rights campaigners and trade unions.

Action on Frailty Focus Groups & Survey
Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB, together with colleagues in Primary Care and Provider Trusts, are seeking to take action on supporting people with frailty, especially those with moderate frailty. The ICB’s aim is to reduce the non-elective admissions to hospital of this group of people, which is significantly higher than it needs to be and may be preventable.

The ICB recognises it needs to work with partners across all sectors, both in identifying how we achieve this and in implementing any actions needed, and would like to better understand what people who are frail, or their carers, need from their point of view. In particular, their views are sought on:

  • self-care,
  • their experience of access to support and how improvements can be made,
  • where people with frailty will prefer to be cared for and
  • what this should look like

If your group or forum would like to take part in such a focus group, please contact Jeremy Scholey, Engagement and Communications Senior Officer at the Integrated Care Board – [email protected]

Alternatively, an online survey is open to all – click here to complete it

Measles Preparedness Information Document
The NHS have circulated Measles Campaign Information and Q&A for the Community, Voluntary & Faith Sector highlighting the importance of measles vaccination and addressing common concerns. Measles is highly contagious, especially among the unvaccinated, and can lead to serious complications. The campaign emphasises the necessity of two doses of the MMR vaccine for lifelong protection.

With recent outbreaks and declining vaccination rates, the NHS is launching a catch-up campaign for children aged 6 to 11 years. It assures the public of the vaccine’s safety and efficacy, including halal options without pork ingredients. The campaign also dispels the debunked link between the MMR vaccine and autism while advising travelers to ensure vaccination before international trips to countries where measles is prevalent.
