Young People’s Community Dialogue
Are you aged between 16 and 25? Do you look at the world around you and think you could improve it? Do you often feel like nobody listens to you, or that the things that impact your life just happen without your input? Would you like the chance to influence real, positive local change?
Lancaster District Young People’s Foundation (LDYPF), working in partnership with Lancaster University, will hold a conversation with young people to find out what your priorities are for improving Lancaster and Morecambe. Your ideas will shape LDYPF’s first strategic plan for our district.
A number of young people have already supported LDYPF by sharing their voices to affect positive change in the communities where they live, with one of the participants pointing out that “young people are capable of much more than they are given credit for,” while another explained that “to have responsibility is to be trusted, and to be trusted is to be empowered.’’
The event will take place as part of the “Community Dialogues” initiative and be on Monday 24th February between 4.30pm and 7.30pm at Lancaster and Morecambe College’s Employers Hub. LDYPF recognises that your time is valuable, so anyone who comes along to a session will receive £30 as a thank you, and refreshments will be provided.
LDYPF is a new charity that builds on 15 years of partnership working and exists to improve the lives of children and young people in our district, by supporting and strengthening the work of local agencies which contribute to that goal. But young people’s voices are an essential part of that journey because nothing about you without you is for you. These events are an opportunity to make your voice heard, to share your views on skills, education, and training in Lancaster and Morecambe, and to make a significant contribution not only to a brand new charity, but to improving the lives of young people across our district now and decades into the future.
Everyone is welcome – whether you’re in work, education or training, or none of those, LDYPF want to hear from you!
