Lublin Refugee Appeal

The Lancaster district has close ties with the Polish city of Lublin, having been twinned since 1994. Lublin is situated just 70 miles from the Ukraine border and is therefore one of the first places refugees travel to once arriving in Poland.

As a result, Lublin has seen an enormous influx of refugees, and the Mayor of Lublin has reached out to the city’s friends for help as it struggles to support so many vulnerable people.

The Mayor has informed us that they are particularly short of medical supplies, sanitary products and long-lasting food items.

This fundraising page has been set up to allow money to go directly to Lublin to help those in need at this most upsetting time of their lives.

A Message from Lublin

Krzysztof Stanowski is Director of the City of Lublin’s International Cooperation Centre.

In this video he discusses the experience of the city and Ukrainian refugees arriving there, the importance of solidarity at this time, and the work of the Civic Committee of Solidarity with Ukraine (Komitet Obywatelski Solidarności z Ukrainą)

Appeal Update

£9,485 (at 31 January, 2023)

Thanks to the generosity of the people of Lancaster, in 2022 we sent £7,280 to the Rule of Law Institute Foundation (Fundacja Instytut na rzecz Państwa Prawa), one of the Mayor of Lublin’s nominated organisations and part of the Civic Committee of Solidarity with Ukraine, where it will be used to support Ukrainian refugees with food, medical care, accommodation and other essential needs.

We will make further transfers throughout 2023 as donations continue to come in.
