Meet the team….
We are a team of four paid staff and a number of volunteers, who currently work on membership and grants, finance, finance and systems, history and archives and in our front office. Our backgrounds and experiences vary from working with children, young people, communities, advice sector, grant management, finances and media. All coupled together creates an experienced team that can help with developing organisations and projects.
Yakub Patel, Chief Officer: Yak is a trained Community Youth worker with 20 years of working and managing within both statutory and voluntary sectors in the Lancaster District. Having lived in the district all his life, he has extensive experience managing projects with communities, children, young people and he has a wealth of experience in managing community buildings & projects, contracts and funding. He attends and supports a number of district forums including the VCFS forum, the Health & Well-being partnership board, ONE Lancashire, Lancashire Association for CVS’, Connecting Communities, the children young people multi agency forum and the Prevention and Early help panel.
Janet Cherry, Financial Officer: Janet has worked in the voluntary sector for over 10 years working prevously in Cumbria. Janet specialises in maintaining the financial records for our organisation and prepares payroll for organisations. She provides a great deal of support to other charities around book-keeping, good practice, independent examiniations
Annette Marsden, Volunteer: Annette is our longest standing volunteer and provides essential back office support to the team. Her remit is everything and anything including membership management, communications, database management and so much more!
Ian Lawrie, Volunteer: Ian is an exceptional volunteer with many years experience in working in offices. His experiences include working for the Citizens Advice Bureau. Ian provides essential admin support to the Galbraith Trust funding programme, maintaining target updates on our funding outputs along with dealing with communications.
Mark Waddington Volunteer Centre Coordinator: Mark worked for Lancashire County Council for eight years advising groups on funding. Marks knowldege and relationships with local government and voluntary sector individuals stretches across Lancashire which reflects the work he did for grants management team Following Lancashire County Council, Mark joined Preston CVS and developed their strands of work for over five years before joining Lancaster Community Voluntary Solutions to develop the Volunteer Centre. Mark coordinated the Volunteer Coordinator Forum, organises our annual Volunteer Achievement Awards, supports the Time-banking initiative in Preston and provides advice and information with policies around volunteering.
